Why We Do What We Do

Currently, over 2.3 million people are in state or federal prisons in the United States. Prisons are being increasingly privatized and many prison libraries are suffering – or being entirely eliminated.  Often prisoners have no access to the library in their institution.  We believe that books are tools for learning and opening minds to new ideas and possibilities. By sending books to prisoners, we hope to foster a love of reading and encourage the pursuit of knowledge and self-improvement.
