Books To Prisoners is an all-volunteer, non-profit group that sends free books to prisoners in the U.S.
Whether you can spend one or ten hours answering letters, wrapping packages, or raising money for postage, BTP needs your help.
Answer Letters and Wrap Packages
Come to one of our packing meetings, every Monday night, 6-9, and simply open a letter from a prisoner, find books in our library that most closely matches the request, fill out a simple invoice and mailing label, and prepare the package for shipping. It’s that easy! We have hundreds and hundreds of letters we need to answer, so even an hour a month can be a great help.
When and Where
We meet every Monday night from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm in downtown Bellingham. For more information and directions email us at info@bellinghambtp.org
Please Note: If you are trying to fulfill academic or court-ordered volunteer hours, we have special requirements for your participation in packing meetings- please email us for more information.
Organize Events
Are you good at organizing things? BTP needs volunteers to generate, plan, and organize events to raise funds for postage and supplies. Fund raising efforts are also a great way to interact with the community, educate people about our cause, and recruit new volunteers. Email us for more information.
We also need someone who would be interested in searching for and applying for grants and gifts, and perhaps be involved in other web based fund raising.
